Silestone Home Additions & ADU: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Silestone surfaces in a Dallas home addition or ADU typically run $45,000 – $130,000 all-in for the full project, with the Silestone countertop and surface work accounting for roughly $2,000 – $6,500 of that depending on square footage and edge profile. We stock and install Silestone-compatible surfaces for additions, garage conversions, and detached ADUs across Dallas, and we can usually match your existing Silestone color within a few days. Most homeowners discover an issue when a seam opens, an edge chips near the cooktop, or a newly installed overhang starts to show hairline stress cracks where the substrate settled. It’s rarely the Silestone itself that failed. It’s almost always what’s underneath it.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To
Silestone is a quartz surface, not a natural stone, which means the brand’s color series behave differently than granite or marble when installed in Dallas additions and ADUs. We work with the full Silestone catalog, including the Eternal series, the Sunlit Days collection, and the Le Chic line, along with discontinued colors that still show up in homes built during the 2010s Dallas building boom. If you’re matching an existing slab, the label under the counter tells you the exact color code. If you’re ordering new, bring us a cabinet door or a paint chip and we’ll pull physical Silestone samples the size of a floor tile so you can see them under your actual lighting. One compatibility gotcha: Silestone’s newer textures, specifically the Suede and Volcano finishes, reflect light differently than the polished classics. If you’re matching an existing polished slab, don’t let anyone sell you a Suede remnant and call it a match. It won’t be, and you’ll see it every time the Dallas sun hits the kitchen window.

Signs Your Silestone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Seam separation at the peninsula or island joint. This usually means the plywood substrate underneath shifted as the addition settled, or the installer didn’t shim the base cabinets level before setting the slab. Dallas clay soil expands and contracts all year, so substrate movement is the number one cause we see in additions built on slab foundations in neighborhoods like Lake Highlands and Preston Hollow.
- Chipping along the overhang edge. Silestone is hard, but a 1.5-inch unsupported overhang without a corbel or steel bracket will chip when someone leans on it. We see this constantly on kitchen islands in converted garages where the homeowner wanted a breakfast bar and the original builder never reinforced the edge.
- Stress cracks radiating from a corner cutout. The sink cutout and the cooktop cutout are the weak points. If the fabricator cut a sharp inside corner instead of a radiused curve, the quartz will crack from that corner within a few years. This is specific to quartz, including Silestone, and it’s a fabricator error, not a material defect.
- Visible glue line turning yellow or dark. Quartz seams are bonded with a color-matched adhesive. If the wrong adhesive was used, or if the installer didn’t clean the seam faces before bonding, the line discolors. It’s cosmetic, but in a Dallas kitchen with big windows, it’s the first thing you notice every morning.
- A hollow sound when you tap the surface. Quartz should sit fully supported. If you hear a hollow thud over a specific area, the slab isn’t making contact with the substrate there. That’s a future crack waiting to happen, especially if the spot runs parallel to the cabinet front.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Dallas home addition or ADU, Silestone countertop installation runs $2,000 – $6,500 depending on square footage, edge profile, cutouts, and whether the old surface needs demolition and haul-off. That’s the countertop line item. The full addition or ADU project, including framing, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and finishes, lands in the $45,000 – $130,000 range. What drives the countertop number: linear feet of slab, the number of cutouts for sinks and cooktops, the edge style, and whether you’re matching an existing color that requires a full slab rather than a remnant. Our written price includes the slab, fabrication, delivery, template, install, seam bonding, and disposal. We don’t quote a material-only price and surprise you with a separate fabrication charge. We also don’t leave the seam adhesive out as a line item. The price we hand you before we start is the price you pay. Every Silestone installation in Dallas carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work isn’t right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you.

AfterDIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect your own Silestone. Run your fingers along the seams, check the overhang supports, tap for hollow spots. That’s useful information to share when you call. What you shouldn’t do is attempt to repair a cracked or separated Silestone slab yourself. Quartz cannot be re-cut or re-polished with homeowner tools, and the seam adhesives pros use are two-part polyester or epoxy resins that require color-matching skill and fast work in Texas heat before they set. A botched DIY seam repair looks worse than the original crack and costs more to undo. If your Addition or ADU slab has a structural issue, call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll send someone who can look at it in person. The estimate is free, and the woman who answers the phone is a live person, any hour, any day.
FAQs

Silestone quartz should last 25 years or more in a properly supported Dallas installation. The material itself is extremely stable. What shortens its life here is substrate movement from expansive clay soil, which is why we spend extra time leveling and reinforcing cabinet runs before the slab ever gets set.
A hairline crack can sometimes be filled and color-matched by a skilled fabricator, but the repair will always be visible under raking light. If the crack runs through a cutout or across a seam, replacement of that section is the honest answer. Call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll tell you which situation you have after a 10-minute inspection.
From template to installed slab, most Dallas countertop replacements take 7 to 10 days. Templating is one visit, then fabrication happens off-site, then install is usually a single half-day. If you’re matching a color we stock, it can move faster.
We maintain relationships with Dallas-area Silestone distributors and can pull physical samples within a day. We don’t warehouse full slabs on-site, but we can usually source the exact color you need faster than a big-box kitchen chain because we do this every week. Matching an existing discontinued color? We’ll find the closest current Silestone equivalent and show you the sample side by side before we order anything.
