IKO Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

IKO fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full perimeter job, depending on the linear footage, terrain, and the specific IKO product line you’re working with. If your IKO fence has a failed section or a gate that’s pulling away from the post, we can usually match the existing panel profile and have it replaced within a week or two of your estimate. Most Dallas homeowners discover something’s wrong the hard way: a gate that suddenly drags against the concrete, a post that leans after a hard rain, or a windstorm that snapped a rail clean off.

Here’s the thing about IKO fencing in Dallas: the heat and soil movement here are harder on fence components than almost anything else. Clay soil expands and contracts with every wet-dry cycle, which slowly works posts out of plumb. That’s not a product defect; it’s local geology. We’ve pulled posts in Mesquite that were perfectly installed ten years ago and found them shoved a full two inches out of line by the ground itself.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s fencing line includes their vinyl and composite privacy systems, most commonly the IKO Armour Fence and IKO Sierra series in residential Dallas applications. The compatibility gotcha: IKO fence panels have changed their rail-to-post connection design over the years, so a panel from 2012 won’t always seat cleanly onto a post from 2021. You can identify your specific line by checking the stamped code on the inside of the bottom rail or the back face of the post cap; the first two digits typically indicate the production year. If that stamp is gone, we measure the rail profile and post channel width on-site to match it correctly.

OEM IKO parts are our first choice when the fence is less than five years old and the color still has full depth. For older installations, a quality aftermarket equivalent often matches better visually because the sun has already faded your existing panels, and a brand-new OEM section will stand out like a fresh paint patch on a sun-baked wall. We stock common IKO rail brackets, post caps, gate hinges, and bottom rails on our trucks, plus two full panel profiles for emergency match-ups.

Signs Your IKO Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate dragging or won’t latch. The hinge side post has shifted out of vertical, usually from clay soil expansion. Adjusting the hinges buys time, but if the post has moved more than half an inch, it needs resetting in fresh concrete.
  • Visible gaps at the rail-to-post connection. IKO rails seat into routed post channels. When you can see daylight between the rail end and the post face, the rail has either shrunk from prolonged Dallas heat or the post has twisted. Once the channel loses its grip, the panel rattles in every wind storm.
  • Panels billowing or bowing between posts. A healthy IKO panel should sit flat. Bow means one of two things: the bottom rail has cracked and is no longer holding tension, or the panel was installed with the wrong spacing for our wind loads. Either way, it gets worse every storm season.
  • White chalky residue on the vinyl surface. That’s UV oxidation, normal for any vinyl product after enough Texas sun. It’s cosmetic at first, but heavy oxidation makes panels brittle. If a panel flexes and crackles when you push on it, it’s near end of life.
  • Post leaning after rain. Dallas clay absorbs water and swells, then contracts during dry spells. A post set in undersized concrete or a shallow hole will lean after a single wet spring. If you can rock the post by hand, the footing has already failed.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

A straightforward IKO fence panel swap on an existing, healthy post line runs $250 to $600 per section in Dallas, parts and labor included. Full replacement of a post with new concrete and re-setting runs $180 to $400 per post, depending on access and whether old concrete has to be broken out. A complete IKO fence installation for a typical Dallas backyard, say 150 to 220 linear feet, lands between $3,500 and $9,000. The big drivers are total linear footage, how much old fence has to be removed and hauled, whether your yard has a slope that requires stepped panels, and gate count; every gate adds $400 to $1,200 depending on width and hardware.

Our written price covers all materials, labor, post removal, concrete work, and cleanup. We deliver that written price before any work starts, and it doesn’t change unless you change the scope. The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right within a year of completion, we come back and fix it at no cost to you. Fence posts that shift because the ground shifted are still our problem for that first year, and we treat them that way.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: push gently on each post to find movement, look for rail-to-post separation, and check whether your gate still hangs level. That inspection tells you what’s wrong. Fixing it is a different job. Post replacement means digging a hole two feet deep in Dallas clay (often with roots and old concrete in it), mixing concrete to the right slump, and setting the post perfectly plumb in both planes before it cures. Vinyl panels are not forgiving. If the spacing is off by even a quarter inch, your rails won’t seat. We’ve fixed enough DIY-reset posts where the owner got it close but not square that I can tell you: close isn’t close enough with vinyl fencing.

If you’d rather not spend a Saturday wrestling with an auger and then redoing it in a year, call us at (432) 302-8761. We’ll match your IKO line, give you a written price, and have the job done without you guessing what happens next.
