ActiveYards Kitchen Remodeling: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We install ActiveYards-compatible kitchen remodels across Dallas, with full kitchen projects typically running $14,000 to $45,000 installed. Most owners call us after discovering their ActiveYards cabinetry, hardware, or layout has failed in ways that make daily cooking harder than it should be: doors that don’t close square, drawer slides that grind, a layout that worked on paper but fights you every time you reach for a pan. We stock ActiveYards-compatible hardware and components on the truck, and in most cases we can start the diagnostic visit within a few days, not weeks. This page covers what fails, what it costs to fix or replace, and when a full remodel beats another patch job.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To
ActiveYards builds cabinetry and kitchen systems across three main lines: the Classic series, the Designer series, and the Premier series. The key compatibility gotcha is in the hinge and slide hardware. The Classic line uses standard 35mm cup hinges and straightforward side-mount drawer slides, so any quality aftermarket equivalent works and we use OEM when the finish needs to match exactly. The Premier line is where it gets trickier: those cabinets often use soft-close undermount slides with clips that mount to a specific rail profile. If you swap in the wrong slide, the drawer will sit wrong and the soft-close mechanism won’t catch. The quickest way to identify your series is to look for the model sticker inside a lower cabinet door, usually on the hinge-side stile. If the sticker is gone, measure the drawer box face: Classic uses 3/4-inch drawer fronts, Premier uses 7/8-inch with a beveled inner edge. ActiveYards discontinued the Classic line’s original single-rail hinge in 2019, so if yours predates that, expect to update to the newer paired-hinge setup during any repair. As an independent Dallas contractor, we aren’t affiliated with ActiveYards, but we work on their systems every week and know which parts swap cleanly and which ones need a full retrofit.

Signs Your ActiveYards Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Doors won’t close flush, or they lean at the corner. This is almost always hinge fatigue. The Classic line’s older single-rail hinges wear at the pivot, and once the door sags, the reveal opens up and the latch stops catching. It looks like a door problem but it’s a hinge problem, and it will keep coming back until the hinge is replaced rather than adjusted.
- Drawers stick, grind, or pop off the track. In Texas, the fine clay dust that works into everything shortens slide life. Once the bearings in a side-mount slide wear flat, the drawer will bind at the back of the stroke. For Premier undermount slides, a broken catch clip usually means the whole slide should be replaced, not repaired.
- Soft-close stops working on one or two drawers. That little dampener cylinder inside the slide loses its fluid over time, especially in kitchens that run warm. When it goes, the drawer slams shut. One dead dampener is repairable. Four or five dead dampeners is a sign the hardware is aging out across the kitchen.
- Finish chipping at the bottom edge or around the sink base. ActiveYards cabinet fronts are thermofoil or painted, and once the substrate swells from sink splash or a slow drain leak, the finish lifts and chips. That’s water damage underneath, not just cosmetic wear. The fix is replacing the affected door or drawer front, and sometimes the cabinet box if it wicked up.
- The whole layout fights you. You’re working around a peninsula that blocks the fridge. The prep zone is four feet from the sink. Nobody calls a remodeling company because one hinge broke; they call because ten small things added up to a kitchen that’s miserable to cook in. That’s when a full remodel priced honestly beats another band-aid.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Full ActiveYards-compatible kitchen remodels in Dallas run $14,000 to $45,000 depending on scope. A smaller kitchen with refinishing and new hardware lands near the bottom of that range; a full gut with Premier-series cabinetry, installation, and countertops pushes toward the top. Here’s the line-item breakdown we give every homeowner in writing:
- Full kitchen remodel: $14,000 – $45,000
- Cabinet installation (ActiveYards-compatible): $4,000 – $13,000
- Countertop installation: $2,000 – $6,500
- Backsplash installation: $800 – $2,500
- Kitchen island installation: $3,000 – $10,000
Every quote includes parts, labor, haul-away of the old material, and a written price before we start. No change orders unless we uncover something structural and you approve it first. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation: if something we installed isn’t right within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost.
DIY or Call Us?
Adjusting a cabinet door hinge or tightening a loose drawer pull is something any careful homeowner can do, and we’ll walk you through it over the phone if you call. What we’d tell you not to do: don’t try to reface thermofoil doors with heat or glue. Once the substrate swells, heat makes the delamination worse, and the glue you have at home will hold for about two weeks in a Dallas July. Don’t yank out a built-in cabinet to reach plumbing behind it; those boxes are screwed and glued in a sequence you won’t reverse easily, and you’ll damage a wall. And if you’re dealing with a gas line behind a cooktop or a range that needs to move, that’s a job for someone who pulls permits. Call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll give you a straight answer on whether it’s a Saturday fix or a full remodel.
FAQs

Expect 12 to 18 years from ActiveYards cabinet boxes in North Texas, with hinges and drawer slides wearing out around the 8-to-12-year mark. The dry clay dust and summer heat take the hardware out long before the cabinet boxes fail. If your boxes are solid but the hardware is tired, a hardware refresh with new slides and hinges runs far under a full remodel.
Yes, in most cases. Hinges, slides, drawer fronts, and trim pieces are all replaceable. The line is drawn at water-damaged boxes: if a base cabinet has wicked moisture and the bottom panel is soft or the corners are separating, repairing it is throwing good money at a box that’s already failed. Call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll tell you which side of that line your kitchen is on.
A full kitchen remodel runs about two to three weeks; a hardware replacement takes one to two days. Demolition and cabinet install are fast. It’s the countertop templating, fabrication, and backsplash work that add days, and you shouldn’t rush those steps in the Texas humidity or you’ll get grout that cracks in eighteen months.
We carry common ActiveYards-compatible hinges, drawer slides, dampeners, and mounting hardware on the truck, so most hardware repairs happen in one visit. For matching cabinet doors and drawer fronts in a specific ActiveYards finish, we order those to match, and they usually arrive within ten business days. If you need a full kitchen done, we also work with KraftMaid and Wellborn cabinetry, plus Cambria and Silestone surfaces, so you’re not locked into one brand if ActiveYards doesn’t have the finish you want.
If your ActiveYards kitchen is failing in Dallas, call (432) 302-8761 for a free estimate. You should know who is coming, what it costs, and what happens if something goes wrong, before we ever pick up a tool. A live person answers, every call, any hour.
