Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Techo-Bloc driveway and paver installation in Dallas typically runs $7,000 to $18,000 for a standard two-car driveway, and we do most Techo-Bloc work from our own stock, not a backorder list. Parts replacement, like swapping out a cracked paver or resetting a sunken section, usually lands between $350 and $2,500 depending on how many units are involved and what the base underneath looks like now. What we see most in Dallas is pavers that have shifted after heavy spring rains worked into the sand base, or surface spalling that shows up a few years after a bad batch of de-icing salt sat on the stone through two freeze cycles.
If you’re standing in your driveway right now looking at a paver that’s cracked, wobbling, or sunk an inch below its neighbors, you need two things: the exact Techo-Bloc series and color name if you can find it, and a contractor who will tell you whether this is a one-paver fix or a base problem that’s going to keep coming back. We’ll walk you through both.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

The part most Dallas homeowners call us about is not technically a “part” at all. It’s a specific paver unit from a specific Techo-Bloc series, and if you don’t match the series, you’ll see the difference from across the street. Techo-Bloc makes three series we install most often on driveways here: Blu 60, Blu Grande, and Estate Stone. The Blu 60 and Blu Grande are smooth-faced, modern-profile slabs that come in 60mm and 80mm thickness. Estate Stone has a more textured, traditional look and a tumbled edge. The compatibility gotcha that trips people up: a Blu 60 unit is not interchangeable with a Blu Grande unit, even when the concrete blend looks nearly identical. The dimensions differ, and so does the chamfer on the edge. And yes, it matters.
If you’re trying to identify a unit on your own, look on the underside of the paver. Techo-Bloc stamps the series name into the mold, and most units also carry a date code. Failing that, measure the unit. Blu 60 slabs run roughly 7.87 inches by 11.81 inches in the modular format. Blu Grande uses a 11.81 by 11.81 square plus a matching rectangle. If you can pull one full unit out and get those measurements, we can identify the series by phone in under two minutes. As for OEM versus aftermarket: for Techo-Bloc we recommend staying with Techo-Bloc every time. Generic concrete pavers from the big-box stores are close in size, but the color blends are never an exact match, and a patch job on a driveway reads like a patch job for the next fifteen years.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Wobbling or rocking pavers. This usually means the bedding sand has washed out underneath, a common problem after the heavy downpours we get in North Dallas in April and May. The paver isn’t broken. The support under it failed.
- Visible surface cracks that hold water. A hairline crack in a concrete paver is cosmetic. A crack that opens up and fills with water, then freezes, will widen every winter. Dallas doesn’t freeze often, but when it does, it’s usually at night after a wet day, and that’s exactly when paver damage compounds.
- A low spot that ponds for more than an hour after rain. This is a base compaction issue, not a paver issue. If you replace the pavers but leave the soft base, the new pavers will sink in the same spot within two years.
- White, chalky scaling on the surface. That’s spalling, and in Dallas it’s almost always tied to rock salt applied for the occasional ice storm. De-icing salts sit on the surface, dissolve into the pores, and pop the top layer of the paver. Sealing helps, but the damaged units need replacement.
- Edging that has pulled away from the driveway border. The plastic or metal edge restraint has failed, and once it goes, the pavers at the perimeter start pushing outward. You’ll see the gap at the grass line first.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Figure these Dallas ranges for planning purposes: swapping out up to ten individual pavers, including matching stone, new bedding sand, and reset, runs $350 to $700. A larger section that needs the base re-compacted, new sand, fabric, and the units reinstalled is more like $1,200 to $2,500. A full two-car Techo-Bloc driveway in Dallas, installed new with the proper base, runs $7,000 to $18,000, with the spread driven by paver series, total square footage, whether we’re removing old concrete, and what kind of compaction the existing ground will hold.
We itemize every line of that in writing before we start. You’ll see the paver unit count, the material costs, the base depth, the labor, and the haul-away. Nothing bundled into a single number you can’t audit. Our work on Techo-Bloc driveways and paver repairs is covered by a written guarantee, and we put the terms in plain language: exactly what’s covered, what’s not, and for how long. No asterisks.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things on your own. Pull the loose paver, look at what’s underneath, and take photos of the stamp and measurements on the bottom of the unit. That saves real time on the first visit. What we wouldn’t do ourselves, and wouldn’t advise you to do, is reset a paver on a failing base and call it fixed. It’s not dangerous like a garage door spring; it’s just a waste of an afternoon. The homeowner-grade solution most people reach for, extra sand under the low spots, is the quickest way to repeat the same repair a year from now.
There’s also the part nobody mentions until they’ve done it once: a single replacement paver, even a color-matched one, usually looks brighter than the surrounding stone because the neighbors have years of sun and traffic aged into them. We can blend that, at least enough that your eye stops finding it every time you pull into the driveway. If you’re not sure whether you have a paver problem or a base problem, call (432) 302-8761. We’ll put eyes on it.
FAQs

A properly installed Techo-Bloc driveway in Dallas lasts 25 to 30 years before the surface itself degrades, but the sand joints and edge restraints typically need attention every 5 to 8 years. The pavers rarely fail on their own. The system around them does. Call (432) 302-8761 if you want to know whether yours is wearing normally or failing early.
Yes, in most cases we replace only the damaged units and reset the section around them. That holds up long-term unless the base under the driveway has lost its compaction, which we check by probing down through the sand and verifying the edge restraint. If the base is shot, repairing only the surface pavers delays the problem, it doesn’t end it.
A small section of ten pavers or fewer is usually done in one visit, and a larger reset of a few hundred square feet can take two to three days including the base repair and re-compaction. You’ll have a written schedule before work starts, and you won’t be guessing when the crew shows up.
We keep the most common Techo-Bloc series in our Dallas inventory, including Blu 60 and Blu Grande in the standard gray and tan blends. Less common colors and Estate Stone units we order directly, and the lead time is usually four to seven business days. If you can provide the series name or a photo of the underside stamp, we’ll tell you in one phone call whether we have it on hand.
If you’ve got a cracked paver, a sunken section, or a whole driveway you’ve been putting off, call Mason Remodeling Co Dallas at (432) 302-8761. We’ll match the series, give you a written price, and you’ll know exactly who’s showing up before they ring the bell.
