Cover Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Driveway and paver repair in Dallas typically runs $250 to $18,000 depending on whether you’re sealing cracks, resetting sunken pavers, or replacing the whole drive, and we can usually get a crew to your property within a few days of the estimate. Most homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a paver shifts underfoot after a hard rain, a section of concrete sinks near the curb, or cracks spread across the slab after one of those freeze-thaw cycles Dallas gets every few winters. If you have a Cover product, like their patio pavers or a covered driveway system, and something underneath or around it has failed, this page tells you exactly what to expect.
We’re an independent Dallas contractor, not affiliated with Cover, but we work with their paver lines and the hardscape systems that surround them every week. Isaac Pruett has walked hundreds of Dallas driveways from Oak Cliff to Lake Highlands, and the failure pattern he sees most often isn’t the paver itself. It’s what’s underneath it.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover’s paver and driveway products fall into a few families, and the part that fails usually depends on which one you have. Their standard concrete pavers, the kind used for patios and walkways, share dimensions and joint spacing with most modular paver systems. Their larger-format driveway pavers, often 24-inch or 36-inch units, are a different animal entirely. Those big units sit on a deeper base, and when one cracks or settles, it’s almost always a base failure, not a paver failure.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners hit: Cover pavers made before 2018 used a slightly different edge profile, a 3mm bevel instead of the current 5mm. If you’re replacing one or two units on an older installation, new stock won’t sit flush. It’ll catch your eye every time you pull into the driveway. We keep the bevel difference in mind when matching, and if we can’t find an exact match, we’ll tell you before ordering anything. For aftermarket equivalents, Belgard and Unilock both make pavers that match Cover’s current profiles closely enough for most repairs, but we prefer OEM Cover units when color matching matters. Sun fading in Dallas is real, and a brand-new paver next to a five-year-old paver will show its age difference. We can blend or we can be honest about the match before you spend a dollar.
To identify your exact Cover model, look on the underside of any loose paver or on the original invoice if you kept it. The model number is typically stamped as a four-digit code starting with CV. If you don’t have either, snap a photo of the paver surface and edge, and we’ll identify it from the truck.

Signs Your Cover Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken or rocking pavers near the driveway edge. This is base washout. Dallas downpours channel water under the paver base and erode the sand or gravel, leaving a void. The paver tilts because there’s nothing holding it. We see this most often on the downhill side of driveways in East Dallas and around Lakewood.
- Cracks running in a straight line across multiple pavers. A straight crack pattern means the base below has heaved or settled along a seam. It’s not random. Tree roots, a leaking irrigation line, or poorly compacted fill are the usual culprits.
- Efflorescence, the white chalky film, that keeps coming back. This is moisture moving through the paver and carrying salts to the surface. One cleaning and it returns in a month means water is trapped below and wicking up. The fix is drainage, not scrubbing.
- Joint sand disappearing between pavers after every rain. If the sand between your pavers washes out regularly, the edge restraint has likely failed. Without a solid edge, the whole field starts to drift, one hard rain at a time.
- Pavers shifting under car tires when you pull in. A paver driveway should not move under normal vehicle weight. Movement means the base depth was insufficient or has degraded. In Dallas’s clay soil, which swells and shrinks with moisture, base failure is the single most common driveway problem we repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a paver driveway installation in Dallas, expect $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, paver choice, and base depth. That’s the full-job number. If you’re repairing a section, re-setting sunken pavers usually falls between $500 and $2,500. Driveway sealing runs $250 to $700. A full driveway replacement, including the old concrete or asphalt removal, sits between $5,000 and $14,000.
Here’s what we include and what we don’t play games with. Every job gets a written price before any work starts. That price covers the pavers or repair materials, base prep or repair, labor, cleanup, and haul-away. It states exactly what’s covered and for how long. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work isn’t right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost. No surprise invoices. No verbal estimates that grow on the final bill. Isaac walks the job himself before the first tool comes off the truck, because he learned early that a paper plan and a Dallas driveway in front of you are two very different things.
Driveway work is not emergency work. We schedule it, we do it right, we clean up. The free estimate is the first step.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Look for water pooling near the driveway edge after rain. Look for tree roots pushing up along the paver lines. Check whether joint sand is washing out consistently. Those observations help us diagnose the problem faster when you call.
Where DIY goes wrong is in the base. Re-setting pavers without fixing the substrate underneath is like putting a fresh bandage on a cut that needs stitches. It looks fine for a few weeks, then the same sunken spot returns after the next storm. The base work involves excavation, compaction, and drainage that most homeowners don’t have the equipment or the patience for. And a paver driveway is heavy work, genuinely heavy. A single 24-inch paver can weigh 60 pounds or more. Moving fifty of them wrong will put your back out for a month.
If you’re not sure whether you need a repair or a replacement, call (432) 302-8761. We’ll tell you straight which one it is.
FAQs

Cover pavers themselves typically last 25 to 40 years in Dallas, but the base underneath often fails well before the paver surface does. Our clay soil expands and contracts with moisture, and without proper base prep, you’ll see settlement within the first 5 to 10 years. The paver is rarely the problem. It’s what’s under it.
Yes, sunken pavers can usually be lifted, the base re-compacted, and the same pavers reset, which is far cheaper than replacement. This works when the pavers themselves are intact. If the pavers are cracked or the base failure is widespread, replacement becomes the more honest long-term fix. Call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll evaluate what you’ve got.
Most paver repairs and re-leveling jobs take one to two days. A full driveway replacement takes three to five days depending on size and whether we’re removing old concrete. We’ll give you a schedule in writing before work begins.
We keep common Cover paver profiles and matching joint sand on our trucks, and we can source OEM Cover units for most current models within a few days. For older pre-2018 profiles, we’ll identify the mismatch before ordering so you don’t end up with pavers that don’t sit flush. We also stock Belgard and Unilock equivalents when a color or profile match makes them the better call.
