ActiveYards Windows & Doors: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
If you have an ActiveYards aluminum fence or gate system in Dallas and the window or door insert has failed, cracked, or started to rattle, we carry ActiveYards-compatible replacement windows and doors and install them throughout the metro, typically for $450 – $850 per panel installed depending on size and frame condition. Most Dallas homeowners discover the failure the same way: the decorative insert that was supposed to sit snug inside the aluminum frame starts shifting, the finish delaminates after a few Texas summers, or the latch that held it in place finally snaps. You should know who is coming, what it costs, and what happens if something goes wrong before we ever pick up a tool.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To
ActiveYards builds their aluminum fence and gate systems in a few distinct lines, and the window and door inserts are not universal across them. The Regal and Brookhaven series use welded aluminum frames with decorative inserts that slide into a routed channel, while the Coventry and Grand series use a slightly larger channel depth, which means an insert that fits a Regal panel will be too narrow for a Coventry frame by roughly an eighth of an inch. The compatibility gotcha we see most often in Dallas is this: a homeowner measures the exterior frame and orders a replacement insert based on that number, but the insert is sized to the interior channel dimension, which runs about three-eighths of an inch narrower. If you can find the series stamp on the inside of the top rail, that tells us everything. If the stamp is worn off, we measure the channel with a caliper on site. For OEM ActiveYards inserts, lead times in Dallas run two to three weeks. We also keep quality aftermarket equivalents that match the channel specs for Regal, Brookhaven, and Coventry series, and those go in the same day in most cases. Mason Remodeling Co Dallas is an independent service provider and has no direct affiliation with ActiveYards.

Signs Your ActiveYards Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The insert rattles when the gate closes. The plastic retention clips have fatigued, which happens faster in Dallas because the aluminum frame expands and contracts through 40-degree temperature swings in the spring. The frame stays solid, but the clips lose their bite.
- The finish is flaking or clouding. The decorative powder coat on ActiveYards inserts is designed for UV exposure, but a decade of Dallas sun on a west-facing fence burns through even good powder coat. The substrate underneath starts to oxidize, and that oxidation is what causes the cloudy, chalky look.
- The insert is cracked, usually at a corner. Aluminum frames flex under wind load, and when the insert is too tight or has a slight defect, the corner is where the stress concentrates. We see this most often on gates that get slammed, not on static fence runs.
- The insert has slipped out of the channel. When the clips fail completely, the insert can drop. If it drops while a gate is mid-swing, it can pinch and bend, and then it will not re-seat without replacing the insert entirely.
- You found a replacement insert online and it does not fit. This is not a sign of failure, but it is the most common call we get after one. Series mismatch is the culprit, which we covered above.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Installed prices for ActiveYards window and door inserts in Dallas run $450 – $850 per panel. The spread is driven by three things: first, whether we are doing one panel or an entire fence run (volume drops the per-panel labor); second, whether the insert is an OEM part or a quality aftermarket equivalent (OEM runs roughly 30 percent higher); third, whether the surrounding frame is square and sound or needs a correction during install. Every quote is a written price before any work starts, and that price includes removal of the failed insert, verification of the channel dimensions, installation of the new insert, and a walk-through with you before we leave. If the insert fails within 365 days of the completion date, we come back and make it right at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. DIY or Call Us?
The windows and doors inserts themselves are not dangerous parts. There is no spring tension, no glass, and no electrical. What an owner can safely check: the series stamp location, whether surrounding panels are still square, and whether the channel is clean or packed with Dallas dust and debris. Where DIY goes wrong is the disassembly. On Brookhaven and Regal frames, the top rail is held with self-tapping screws that strip easily if you use the wrong bit, and once that rail is stripped, the whole panel needs to be re-tapped or replaced. We have also watched homeowners order an insert, wait three weeks, and then discover the channel is a series they did not check. If you want to try it yourself, call us first and we will tell you over the phone what to look for before you spend. If you would rather have us handle it, (432) 302-8761 gets you a live person, any day of the year.
FAQs

How long do ActiveYards window and door inserts last in Dallas?
Plan on 8 to 12 years for the original inserts in Dallas, with west-facing runs on the short end of that range. UV exposure and the aluminum expansion cycle are what wear them out, not the insert’s day-to-day function. Aftermarket replacements with comparable powder coat hold up about the same.
Can the insert be repaired instead of replaced?
If the failure is a single loose clip, yes, sometimes. If the insert is cracked, faded, or dropped out of the channel, a repair will look like a repair and will fail again in a season or two, and the material cost of patching is not far from replacement. We will tell you which is which when we look at it, and the estimate is free either way. Call (432) 302-8761 to have us take a look.
How long does the replacement take?
A single panel takes under an hour once the part is in hand. An entire run along a typical Dallas backyard is a half-day job. OEM orders add two to three weeks for the part; our aftermarket in-stock equivalents go in the same week in most cases.
Do you stock ActiveYards inserts on the truck?
We stock the common aftermarket channel sizes for Regal, Brookhaven, and Coventry series on the truck, plus the replacement clips and fasteners. If your project needs an OEM insert instead, we order it the same day and schedule you for install when it arrives. Call us at (432) 302-8761 and we will check our inventory while you are on the phone.
