Barrette Fence Installation: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

Barrette fence installation in Dallas typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full install, and when a section or gate fails, we’re usually out within a day or two to match the part and put it right. Most of the time an owner discovers a problem after a hard North Texas wind or a few seasons of clay-soil shifting: the gate drags, a picket splits loose, or a corner post starts leaning just enough to notice. We carry Barrette-compatible replacement parts on the truck, and we match the profile before we ever give you a number, so you’re not guessing which series you have.

Which Barrette Models This Applies To

Barrette makes their residential vinyl fence lines to the same unival profile mold but not every part swaps across series: the pickets and rails from the Bluegrass, Savannah, and Sierra lines are dimensionally close, but the post caps and gate hardware differ. Look inside the top rail or on the bottom edge of a post for a faint manufacturer stamp or a white sticker: Barrette IDs are usually a 4-digit suffix that tells you the series, and if it’s worn off, measuring the post width at 4 or 5 inches usually narrows it down. OEM is our default for any part that takes load or weather, and for Barrette specifically, the factory rail hangers fit the rail channel snugger than most aftermarket brackets, which matters when a Texas thunderstorm pushes a fence sideways. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Barrette, and we’ll tell you plainly when an equivalent part is just as good or better.

Signs Your Barrette Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean at the corner or gate side. Dallas clay expands and contracts hard enough to walk a shallow-set post out of plumb. A lean over 10 degrees usually means the post base has failed, not the post itself.
  • Gate catches the ground or won’t close square. The hinge-side post has settled or the frame rails have loosened inside the upright. On Barrette gates, the sag is usually in the rail-to-stile connection, and the factory lag screws are often the first thing to wallow out.
  • Bottom rail is cracking or bowing. It’s the first place standing water rests after a Dallas soak, and once a hairline starts, expansion splits it fast. This isn’t cosmetic; it’s a water entry point.
  • Pickets rattle or a section flexes more than it should. A good Barrette section should feel rigid across its full width. If it no longer does, you’ve lost structural connection at the rail hangers or end screws.
  • White streaks running down the pickets from the top rail. It’s not just grime: when the top rail’s joint fails, rainwater channels through and leaches out the section’s vertical channels, leaving that chalked streak.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Dallas, a full Barrette fence installation replacement runs $3,500 to $9,000, and a section-level fix or gate rebuild usually lands between $450 and $1,500, depending on how much framing we’re pulling. The range is driven by linear footage, how far we’re digging, whether the original posts have concrete that needs busting out, and gate hardware. Every number we give is a written price before work starts, and it includes the parts, labor, hauling the old section, and setting new post footings to frost line and county wind load. The workmanship warranty is the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything is not right within a year of the completion date, we make it right at no cost to you, no dispute process, no conditions.

DIY or Call Us?

You can absolutely identify the failed part yourself: check the stamp, measure the post, and see if the lean is in the post or the rail. What usually goes wrong for a homeowner is miscalculating the gate tension or digging a new post hole without calling 811 first, and in Dallas, hitting an unmarked irrigation or gas line is a real and expensive hazard. Fence work isn’t high-tension like a garage door, but a full section in a wind gust will knock a person down, and a gate with bad hardware can pinch hard. If you’re replacing a picket, fine; if you’re re-hanging a gate or setting a post, call (432) 302-8761, and we’ll do the job with the right Barrette match.
