Belgard Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Belgard-compatible driveway pavers and replacement units across Dallas, with most paver driveway repairs running between $700 and $4,500 depending on square footage, base repair, and pattern matching. We carry Belgard’s most common Dallas lines on our trucks and can source any active series within three business days. You usually find out a paver has failed the slow way: a corner chips after a hard rain, a section starts rocking underfoot, or the sand between joints washes out in one of our spring downpours and suddenly the whole area looks tired.
Isaac Pruett has been looking at failed hardscape in Dallas long enough to know one thing: the paver is rarely the whole story. What’s under it usually tells the truth.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard paver lines break into three families you’ll see across Dallas driveways: the Holland/Heritage cobble styles, the larger-format Lafitt and Catalina slabs, and the permeable Aqua-Bric and Eco-Priora series used on newer builds where drainage code matters. The part number is stamped on the underside of most Belgard units, but if the stamp has worn off, measure the face dimensions and edge profile. A Holland stone is 4″ x 8″. A Lafitt slab runs 16″ x 16″ or larger. Matching by look alone fails often because Belgard runs regional color blends.
One compatibility gotcha that trips Dallas owners: Belgard’s tumbled versus non-tumbled finishes fade at different rates. A five-year-old tumbled paver swapped for a new one of the same color will read noticeably different in direct sun. We account for that in matching and will tell you honestly if a section replacement will show a seam, or if blending stones from a shaded area of your own driveway solves it better than ordering new. When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, for Belgard we recommend OEM on any visible surface and offer aftermarket only for sub-base or utility fill, where brand stamp means nothing.

Signs Your Belgard Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Rocking or shifting underfoot. The paver itself is fine; the layer of bedding sand beneath it has started to migrate. In Dallas clay soil, this happens faster than people expect because our ground swells and shrinks through wet-dry cycles. Left alone, the edge of the paver starts chipping against its neighbors.
- Washed-out joint sand after rain. Dallas storms come fast and heavy. If the joints between pavers hold water or the sand disappears after every downpour, the base is channeling water. You’ll see it first near the low corner of the driveway.
- Visible settling, especially near the garage apron. The first three feet of a Dallas driveway bear the most weight and the least compaction on many original installs. A dip there usually means the base rock was never consolidated properly, not that the pavers are bad.
- Chipped or cracked surface on individual stones. Improper edge restraint lets pavers spread under pressure, then the exposed edges snap. One or two chipped stones is a replacement call. A whole border row chipping is a base and restraint problem.
- Faded or efflorescence-streaked stones. A white chalky haze is not a product defect; it is mineral salts moving through the stone. It is common in Dallas because of our hard water and humidity swings. It can usually be cleaned and sealed, but the sealing schedule matters.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical paver driveway repair in Dallas, budget $700 to $2,000 for spot replacement of 50 square feet or less, including removing the damaged stones, re-compacting the bedding sand, and reinstalling matched Belgard units. A more extensive repair with base correction across a larger section runs $2,000 to $4,500, and a full paver driveway installation starts at $7,000 and tops out around $18,000 depending on pattern complexity, access, and whether you choose a permeable series.
What drives cost on Belgard-specific work is rarely the paver. It’s the base work, the edge restraint, and the time it takes to source a true color match. You get a written line-item price before any work starts, same as every project we touch. The repair itself is covered for 365 days from the completion date under our Done Right Promise. If a repair fails in that window, we return and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things a Dallas homeowner can check safely on a Belgard driveway: whether the joints between stones are holding sand, and whether you can see water pooling in any one spot after a rain. Those two observations tell you more than half the story, and knowing them means you can describe the problem accurately when you call. What you should not do is start lifting and re-bedding large-format Belgard slabs yourself. A 16″ x 16″ Lafitt weighs over forty pounds, and getting a section even close to flat again without the right plate compactor and fresh base material usually makes the low spot lower.
Replacing one or two stones is a job we often do same-visit when we have the match on the truck. Rebuilding a corner that has dropped because the base failed is a different job entirely, and that one deserves a straight answer and a fixed number. Call (432) 302-8761 and we will tell you which one you have.
FAQs

A properly installed Belgard driveway in Dallas lasts 25 to 40 years, with individual stones typically outlasting the base beneath them. The pavers themselves are engineered concrete, so what ages is the sand, the edge restraint, and any spot where water finds a path underneath. We see driveways that were installed correctly still looking structurally sound at 30 years, and we see ones that need rebuilding at 8 because the base was compacted over wet clay.
Yes, individual Belgard pavers can almost always be replaced without touching the surrounding area. The work is removing the damaged stones, re-screeding the bedding sand, and setting new matched units. The exception is when you see a pattern of failure across a whole row or corner, which points to a base problem, not a paver problem. Call (432) 302-8761 and we can tell you which category your driveway falls into.
A small spot repair under 30 square feet is often done in one visit, typically the same day, when we have the matched Belgard stones on the truck. A larger section with base correction runs two to three days, since the compacted base needs to settle properly before the stones go back down. We always set that expectation in writing before we start.
We stock the most common Belgard colors and patterns that Dallas installers have used for the last two decades, including the Holland and Lafitt lines. For less common series or color blends, we source directly through Belgard distributors, which usually lands materials in our yard within three business days. We do not carry substitutes for Belgard work unless you specifically ask for an aftermarket alternative for non-visible fill.
