Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We install Plant Prefab-compatible driveway and paver systems across Dallas, with completed paver driveway installations typically running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver grade. Most driveways we touch were installed when the prefab home went in, which means the base was sometimes rushed to close out the build, so we see settling earlier than a driveway should settle. The usual discovery goes like this: you notice a paver sitting proud after a heavy rain, then a low spot forms, then water starts pooling against the slab instead of draining toward the street.
If that’s your situation, call (432) 302-8761. We’ll walk the driveway, measure the fall, and give you a written price before any work starts, no exceptions.
Which Plant Prefab Models This Applies To

Plant Prefab homes are delivered in modules and set on prepared foundations, and the driveway and entry paving are almost always site-built, not factory-built. That means there isn’t a “Plant Prefab driveway part number” the way there is for a cabinet hinge or a lighting fixture. The paving is done by local subs to the specs in the site plan, so what matters is matching paver size, color range, and base depth to what’s already in the ground, or replacing the whole run cleanly if the base has failed.
The compatibility gotcha: Plant Prefab site plans commonly specify either 60mm or 80mm pavers for driveways, and some Dallas installers use 60mm with a cement-stabilized sand base to save a day. 60mm pavers on a Dallas clay soil that expands and contracts through our freeze-thaw-wet-dry cycles will telegraph every seam within a few years. If you’re adding to or repairing an existing run, we need to measure the paver thickness before quoting, because laying 80mm replacements next to 60mm original without a transition creates a lip you’ll trip on. We stock Belgard, Unilock, and Techo-Bloc pavers, which covers the spec-grade product lines most often drawn into prefab site plans. For the record, Mason Remodeling Co Dallas is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Plant Prefab.

Signs Your Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers are rocking underfoot near the garage apron. This means the bedding sand has washed out from underneath. In Dallas, the culprit is usually a downspout dumping water against the drive edge, or a gutter that stopped doing its job and concentrated flow at one corner of the paving.
- You see a visible low spot after rain that stays wet for hours. That’s a base failure, not a paver problem. Water is pooling because the base stone beneath has settled unevenly, and re-sanding the joints won’t fix it for more than a season.
- Sand is washing out of the joints after every storm. Joint sand is the paving’s glue, it locks the pavers so they load each other instead of sliding individually. When the sand is gone, the pavers start creeping toward the lowest point of the slab.
- Edges are collapsing on one side of the driveway. In Dallas, driveway edges fail where the plastic or steel edging wasn’t spiked deep enough into the native clay. The clay dries and cracks in a summer drought, the spikes lose grip, and the edge starts to freckle outward.
- Tree roots are lifting a section in a straight line. A live oak or cedar elm planted 15 feet from the drive will eventually send roots under it. The fix is root pruning plus base recompaction, but the root will come back, so this one is a repair-plus-maintenance conversation, not a one-and-done.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway replacement in Dallas runs $7,000 – $18,000 installed. A partial repair, say a 200-square-foot apron section with base rework, usually lands between $1,800 and $4,500. What drives the spread: total square footage, whether we’re removing and disposing of the old pavers or overlaying, base depth (a proper Dallas base is 6 – 8 inches of crushed stone over compacted subgrade, and skipping that is why so many drives fail early), and the paver line you choose.
Every quote is a written, line-item price before we start, so you’ll see the paver cost, base material, labor, haul-off, and any drainage correction as separate numbers. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right within a year of completion, we make it right at no cost to you. Call (432) 302-8761 to schedule a free estimate and get a hard number, not a ballpark.

You can check a few things without touching a tool: walk the driveway after a rain and mark low spots with chalk, look at where downspouts discharge, and count how many pavers rock when you step on them. That gives us a useful picture over the phone.
Where DIY goes sideways on pavers: pulling a section to “just re-level it” without recompacting the base, which leaves you with a wavier surface than before; adding polymeric sand when the base is moving, which just locks the movement in place and makes the eventual repair more expensive; and running a plate compactor over pavers without edge restraint, which blows the edges out and turns a small repair into a full re-lay. Laying pavers isn’t dangerous work the way garage springs are, but doing it twice because the base wasn’t done right is an expensive lesson. If you’d rather get it done once, call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll send someone who has reworked Dallas clay-base failures more times than they can count.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway with an 6 – 8 inch crushed stone base should last 25 – 30 years before needing major rework in Dallas’s climate. The pavers themselves are virtually indestructible; it’s the base and edges that fail, and in North Texas the freeze-thaw-wet-dry cycle on expansive clay is what ages them. If your drive failed in under 10 years, the base was almost certainly underbuilt for our soil. Call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll tell you exactly what’s under your pavers and what it should be.
Yes, partial repairs are common, especially on apron sections, edges, or spots where a drainage issue undermined one area. The caveat: if the base has failed broadly, a patch is a temporary measure and will telegraph within a season or two, and we’ll tell you that plainly rather than take the patch job just to be back next year. A written estimate for the repair and the full replacement both costs you nothing.
A typical Dallas residential driveway, roughly 600 to 1,200 square feet, takes 3 – 5 working days from demo to final compaction and sanding. That includes removing old pavers or concrete, cutting in the new base, edging, laying, compacting, and joint sand. Weather can push that, since we can’t compact wet clay properly, but you’ll have a written schedule before we start.
We pull from Belgard, Unilock, and Techo-Bloc, which are the three spec-grade lines that cover almost every paver color and finish we see in Dallas prefab communities. We don’t stock every color on a shelf, but we have direct account access and fast turnaround, and if you’re matching an existing Plant Prefab site plan, we’ll bring physical samples to your drive so you can see the match in daylight before you sign anything. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone projects, which keeps a lot of homeowners from having to chase three vendors for one property.
