Sterling Driveway & Pavers: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Sterling-compatible driveway and paver replacement parts across Dallas, with most paver driveway repairs running between $700 and $3,500, and full paver driveway installations ranging from $7,000 to $18,000. Most homeowners discover a problem two ways: a paver that’s cracked, sunken, or shifted after a hard freeze-thaw cycle, or an edge restraint that’s let go and allowed the whole border to wander outward. Either way, you’re not looking at a mystery, you’re looking at a specific part that can be matched and fixed.
Sterling’s paver line is popular in Dallas because it handles our clay soil movement better than poured concrete, but that same soil movement is exactly what eventually works edges and joints loose. The good news is that matching a replacement paver or restraint is straightforward once you know what you’re looking at. The even better news is we can usually do it in one visit.
Which Sterling Models This Applies To

Sterling’s driveway and paver line includes several series that show up regularly in Dallas driveways and patios. The ones we see most often are the Holland Stone and CobbleStone profiles in the 60mm and 80mm thicknesses. The 60mm pavers are rated for pedestrian and light vehicle use; the 80mm pavers are what you want under a driveway that sees trucks, SUVs, and the occasional delivery van. If your pavers are 60mm and they’re cracking under vehicle traffic, that’s a spec mismatch, not a material failure, and it’s one of the first things we check on a service call.
To identify what you have, look for a stamp on the underside of a loose paver. Sterling molds their name and sometimes a lot code into the bottom face. If you don’t have a loose paver, measure the thickness at an exposed edge. The other compatibility gotcha: color lots. Pavers are manufactured in color batches, and a paver poured in 2019 will not match a paver poured in 2024 exactly, even from the same Sterling line. We keep current and recently discontinued colors in stock, but for older installs we sometimes blend from a couple of salvaged pieces to get as close as possible, and we’ll tell you plainly if a perfect match isn’t achievable.
For edge restraints, Sterling uses both aluminum and plastic options depending on the installation. The plastic restraints are more common in Dallas residential work and they’re the first component to fail in our climate. OEM Sterling restraints are available, and there are quality aftermarket equivalents that match the profile; we stock both and will quote you the difference honestly.
One thing worth saying up front: Mason Remodeling Co Dallas is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Sterling, and we don’t claim to be. What we do claim is that we know their driveway and paver systems well enough to match parts correctly the first time.

Signs Your Sterling Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken or settled pavers in a low spot. This is almost always a base-failure problem under the pavers, not a paver problem. Dallas clay expands and contracts with moisture, and if the base wasn’t compacted properly, that movement shows up as a dip within the first three to five years.
- Edge pavers spreading outward at the driveway perimeter. The edge restraint has failed or was never installed correctly. Once the border is uncontained, every vehicle pass pushes the outer row a little further out, and it compounds fast.
- Cracked pavers, especially in a diagonal line across the driveway. A crack running in a line usually means the pavers are bridging a void underneath. That’s a base issue, not a bad batch of pavers. Replacing the cracked piece without fixing the void means you’ll replace it again next year.
- Sand washing out of the joints after rain. Joint sand is what locks pavers together laterally. When it washes out, pavers start working against each other, chipping edges and loosening. The fix is re-sanding with polymeric sand, which hardens and resists washout far better than regular sand.
- White, chalky film on the paver surface. That’s efflorescence, salt minerals wicking up through the paver from moisture below. It’s cosmetic in most cases and can be cleaned, but if it keeps returning, it usually means water is pooling under the pavers and the drainage needs a look.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Dallas homeowners, here’s what Sterling driveway and paver work typically runs, installed:
- Paver driveway installation (new): $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver thickness
- Paver driveway repair (section replacement, re-leveling, or edge repair): $700 – $3,500 depending on the area involved and whether the base needs rework
- Driveway sealing: $250 – $700 for cleaning and re-sealing an average two-car paver driveway
- Driveway replacement (full teardown and rebuild): $5,000 – $14,000
The biggest cost driver is what’s underneath the pavers. If the base is intact and we’re only swapping surface pavers or a failed edge restraint, the job is fast and the price stays low. If we have to excavate, re-compact, and rebuild the base, you’re paying for the labor and materials to do it right so you’re not back in the same spot in three years. Every repair includes removing and resetting the affected pavers, new or restored edge restraint as needed, fresh bedding sand, and polymeric joint sand.
Every quote is written, line-itemed, and handed to you before any work starts. No verbal numbers that grow on the final bill. Our workmanship is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we fixed fails within a year of completion, we come back and make it right at no cost to you.
DIY or Call Us?
If you’re comfortable with basic tools, there are a couple of things you can safely do yourself. You can sweep fresh sand into joints that have washed out, and you can pull a loose edge paver and see whether the restraint is still attached underneath. Those are diagnostic steps, not fixes, but they’ll tell you what you’re dealing with before you call.
Where DIY goes wrong on this job is the base. Hand-tamping a patch in Dallas clay and expecting it to hold under vehicle traffic almost never works. Neither does replacing a cracked paver on top of a void. If the base has shifted or washed out, the repair needs plate compaction and proper drainage correction, and that’s equipment and experience work. You also don’t want to be the one learning on the fly about matching color lots after you’ve bought a pallet of pavers that don’t match your existing driveway.
Here’s my take after two decades of this: you should know who is coming, what it costs, and what happens if something goes wrong, before we ever pick up a tool. Call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll walk the driveway with you, tell you what’s actually wrong, and put the price in writing.
FAQs

A properly installed Sterling paver driveway in Dallas typically lasts 25 to 40 years for the pavers themselves, because the concrete pavers are rated for heavy freeze-thaw cycling and handle our soil movement better than poured slabs. The components around them fail sooner: edge restraints often need replacement at the 10 to 15 year mark, and joint sand needs replenishing every 3 to 5 years. The pavers will outlast the installation details, which is why base work and edge work matter more than the paver brand for longevity. Call (432) 302-8761 if you want us to assess what stage your driveway is in.
Yes, in most cases a sunken section can be lifted, the base re-leveled and re-compacted, and the same pavers reinstalled, which costs significantly less than buying new material. The exception is when the pavers themselves are cracked or heavily chipped, or when the underlying base has eroded to the point that it needs full reconstruction. We’ll tell you which situation you have before quoting anything. Call (432) 302-8761 for a free estimate on your specific repair.
A typical edge repair or section re-leveling on a Dallas driveway takes one day from start to finish, including cleanup and re-sanding the joints. A full driveway replacement runs three to five days depending on square footage and whether we’re rebuilding the base from scratch. We’ll give you a written timeline with your written quote, and we hold to it.
We stock current Sterling paver profiles in the most common Dallas colors and thicknesses, along with edge restraints and polymeric sand, so most repairs can be completed without a waiting period. For older or discontinued colors, we source through our supplier network and will give you an honest answer on lead time and color-match expectation before you commit to anything. Call (432) 302-8761 and we’ll check our stock for your specific paver while you’re on the line.
